Tell us your story
Thank you to all of those workers who have come forward to tell
us their stories about the impact of WorkChoices.
Some of you have become media stars of the Rights At Work campaign,
others have become part of the real stories our campaign teams are
telling ordinary workers on the ground – those who haven’t
yet made up their minds about these laws but for whom your real
stories strike a cord.
Then there are the workers, turned Rights at Work ambassadors
who are championing this campaign in communities across Australia.
Please keep sharing your stories with us…
Linda’s story
Linda Everingham was an ordinary worker and mother
of two but she wasn’t going to sit back and watch the Howard
Government’s WorkChoices laws rip away at her rights at work.
Linda Everingham got her first taste of the Your Rights at Work
campaign almost two years ago sitting in the Penrith RSL club listening
to some bloke from Unions NSW talk about the Howard Government’s
proposed IR changes.
Like most regular workers she thought these laws sounded pretty
unfair but unlike most workers she decided to do something about
it.
Linda joined the local Your Rights at Work committee and since
then has gone on to convince 2000 of her fellow hospital workers
that Rights At Work is a cause they ought to be fighting for.
Together with close to 100 other dedicated campaigners in her area
Linda will be working tirelessly between now and election day to
see that her two children, aged 6 and 7, can grow up with the same
or better rights at work than she had.
